Organizational Behavior

Organizational behavior is the science of behavior. Often the people are challenged by their ethics. Ethical behavior is said to be the right and honorable behavior of a person. Organizational management is very important in health care; as several lives are dependent on it. One field of health care involves numerous lives of people. Health care involves; hospitals, clinics, pharmacist, doctors, nurses etc. Recently an incident happened related to health care management that a pharmacist was unable to complete the required order of medicines on time because of the shortage of one essential drug. At this point his ethics were totally challenged because he could have used some other drug as a supplement which could be a cause of several effects for the patients. The pharmacist was at the peak that he could take any step; either to use a supplement drug or let the order be lost and undergo a financial crisis. The ethical behavior of the pharmacist was to lose the order as the supplementary drug might be not that much beneficial to the patients. Every individual related to this field must work in an ethical behavior. This must happen because every other patient is totally reliable on the doctors and the pharmacist. One wrong order of medicine can cause serious and dangerous side effects to others. Health care must be in accordance with the organizational behavior because many changes have been present in the past in this industry. These changes must be informed to every individual by the managers. Health care is a very diverse industry. They must all coordinate and communicate with each other with the view of ethics and organizational behavior. (Borkowski, 2005).
The health care individuals should be very ethical towards their duty and responsibility. The health care individuals play a major role in the life of others. They should do not do any type of corrupt practice in their business. An ethics reviewer should provide compulsory information to pharmacists so that they would avoid incidents that can cause fatal effects to patients, and improve patient care and the patient safety. Managers need to communicate effectively to motivate the individuals towards the ethical organizational behavior. The pharmacist or any other related health care manager must be given an ethical education so that they would perform their duties ethically as many lives are dependent on them. (NABP) Thus organizational behavior is very important in the field of health care as one department of health is related to another, so every department individuals must perform their activities ethically.
Therefore in my opinion organizational behavior and ethics are two important components in the health care industry. Many people are involved in this. A health care manager has a moral commitment towards his patient. The ethical principle of discretion confirms that patients could trust his health care source not to reveal any info that the patient has given in order to get cured. Ethical principle also involves that the manager must perform every precaution so that any mis-happenings would not occur. Many medical problems are the major issue of people. This all occur because of the disconnection between the behavioral science and the organizational management of medical care. The basic principles of organizational management present such features that help to improve the patient safety.
